Used car prices soar, surprising model takes the lead
【Summary】The Peugeot Partner Teepee has seen the biggest rise in value this month among used cars, with a year-on-year growth of 17.1%. Other models that have seen significant hikes include the Fiat Panda, Volkswagen Beetle, and Hyundai i30. The list is dominated by small, affordable cars.
In recent times, there has been a constant stream of news headlines discussing the significant drop in prices for used electric vehicles (EVs) and which models are experiencing the most value depreciation. The Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron, and Jaguar I-Pace are just a few examples of EVs that have seen substantial decreases in value over the past year. However, the situation is quite different for traditionally-powered used cars.
According to Auto Trader's latest Retail Price Index, the retail prices of used cars have been steadily increasing for 41 consecutive months. This indicates a positive trend in the market for pre-owned vehicles. With this data, we can now identify the models that have experienced the largest price increases this month.
Examining the figures for cars sold in the month ending August 20, it is evident that the Peugeot Partner Teepee has seen the most significant rise in value, with a year-on-year increase of 17.1%. This compact car is followed closely by other affordable models such as the Fiat Panda, Volkswagen Beetle, and Hyundai i30, which all made it into the Top 10 list.
