1000bhp Farewell: Hennessey Exorcist Revives Chevrolet Camaro

The Hennessey Exorcist Camaro ZL1 Final Edition has been unveiled as a special tribute to the Chevrolet Camaro, and it is also the fastest-accelerating car from the American tuner.

The current combustion-engined Camaro will be retired in 2024, after being introduced in its sixth-generation form in 2016.

According to reports from the US, the replacement for the Camaro will be an electric mid-sized saloon, which will be a significant departure from the traditional two-door sports coupé format that has been associated with the model line since 1966.

The Exorcist model is limited to a production run of 57 cars, which is a reference to the lifespan of the Camaro. It is powered by a modified 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine, delivering an impressive 1000bhp and 922 lb ft of torque.

With these specifications, the Exorcist achieves a blistering 0-62mph time of 2.1 seconds, matching the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170. It surpasses every other car produced by Hennessey, including their own 250mph Venom hypercar. The top speed is capped at 217mph, and it completes the quarter mile in 9.57 seconds, outperforming the Porsche 911 Turbo S and matching the Tesla Model S Plaid.

The Exorcist brings several technical upgrades over the standard 650bhp Camaro ZL1 in its pursuit of muscle car dominance. The engine receives a larger supercharger, a high-pressure fuel system, and a high-flow induction system. It also features bespoke camshafts, intake valves, and exhaust valves. The suspension has been enhanced with upgraded pushrods as well.

To signify the car's build number, the engine of the Exorcist is adorned with a special plaque. Production of this exceptional vehicle began today.
