2023 Kia EV5 SUV added to all-electric range
【Summary】The new Kia EV5 electric SUV has been unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show. It is the third electric SUV in Kia's lineup and is aimed at family buyers. The EV5 features a practical design, with a wide stance and increased rear seat and boot space. It follows Kia's 'Opposites United' design language and offers a new standard for design, performance, and practicality in the compact SUV genre.
The all-new Kia EV5 electric SUV has made its debut at the 2023 Chengdu Motor Show in China. This stylish SUV joins Kia's lineup of electric vehicles, which already includes the EV6 and EV9. The EV5 is specifically aimed at family buyers, offering a comfortable and user-friendly driving experience.
While the EV5 takes inspiration from the larger EV9 in terms of its shape, it provides a more practical experience compared to the sleeker EV6. Earlier this year, Kia showcased a concept version of the EV5, and the production model stays true to the brand's 'Opposites United' design language. The EV5 shares its sibling's bold 'Tiger Face' front end, giving it a more aggressive look.
The EV5 features a traditional two-box SUV profile, with a wide stance and a prominent shoulder line. Kia has designed the EV5 with a focus on "family-friendly practicality," as evident from the pushed-back D-pillars. This design choice not only creates more space for rear seat and boot, but also improves visibility. Additionally, the EV5 incorporates an extended rear spoiler to enhance aerodynamic efficiency.
Karim Habib, the Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design Center, stated, "The Kia EV5 was created to redefine the compact SUV genre with a form shaped by Kia's unique design philosophy 'Opposites United.' Our designers have collaborated closely with the engineering team to deliver a holistic solution for sustainable mobility. As a result, the EV5 sets a new standard for design, performance, and practicality, while offering an enjoyable driving experience and user-friendly features."
