The winners of the 2023 What Car? Electric Car Awards showcased the UK's top new and used electric cars and plug-in hybrids. Among the most successful brands were BMW, MG, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volkswagen, each receiving three awards across different car categories.

The title of the most successful model was shared by three cars: the MG 5 EV, Porsche Taycan, and Tesla Model 3. Each of these cars received two awards at this year's Awards ceremony.

The MG 5 was recognized as the Best electric estate car in both the new and used car categories. The Porsche Taycan was named the Best new and used performance car, while the Tesla Model 3 took home the award for Best new and used executive car.

Another standout winner was the Volkswagen ID Buzz, which not only won the overall What Car? Car of the Year in January but also secured the award for Best electric MPV. Volkswagen also received recognition for the Best used electric family car (ID 3) and Best used hybrid estate car (Passat GTE).

The most affordable new electric or hybrid winner at the 2023 What Car? Electric Car Awards was the MG 4 EV SE. This model can currently be purchased for £26,397 through What Car?'s convenient online New Car Buying service.

The Reader Award went to the Renault 5 electric hatchback. This award was determined by a public vote on What Car?'s social media channels, where people were asked to choose the most anticipated electric model from a shortlist of 12 cars.
