The new Suzuki Swift made its debut in concept form at the Tokyo Motor Show, but recent images reveal that the production car will look exactly the same when it is released in 2024.

Suzuki Japan's news website revealed the production-ready Swift, which has remained unchanged from the concept. The design follows the familiar rounded supermini shape that has been a trademark of the Swift for the past two decades.

Suzuki has opted for an evolutionary design for the new Swift, featuring a "floating roof" achieved by blacking out the A-pillar. The car also boasts curved edges and a sleek clamshell-like bonnet. The rear end of the Swift showcases lights similar to the current model, along with a roof spoiler and a rear-view camera.

Inside the car, there is a revised dash layout that includes a new nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Below the touchscreen, there are physical climate control switches and USB charging ports. The driver instruments have been updated, although the steering wheel and gear lever remain the same as the previous model.

The fourth-generation Swift comes with a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a CVT gearbox. Suzuki claims that this combination improves quietness and fuel efficiency. The car also offers mild-hybrid power from an integrated starter generator. In Japan, buyers have the option of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, but it is expected that UK Swifts will only be available in two-wheel drive.

The Swift is expected to be available in the UK next year, with a starting price that is likely to be higher than the current model's £17,199 entry-level price tag. Despite the potential increase in price, the Swift will still be one of the most affordable superminis on the market, competing against the likes of the Citroen C3, Dacia Sandero, and SEAT Ibiza.
