Toyota has released details about the pricing, equipment, and engine specifications for the second-generation C-HR crossover. The new C-HR aims to attract new customers to the brand and comes with a plug-in hybrid powertrain option.

The range starts with the Icon model, priced at £31,290. It includes features like 17-inch alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, a 7.0-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay, and various safety systems. The Design model, priced at an additional £3395, adds 18-inch alloys, a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, and a panoramic sunroof. The Excel trim, priced at £38,150, comes with 19-inch alloys, a JBL sound system, and front sports seats.

The Icon, Design, and Excel trim levels are available with a 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain, which combines a 97bhp petrol engine with a 94bhp electric motor, resulting in a total power output of 138bhp. This powertrain is also shared with the new Toyota Prius. The 1.8 hybrid sends power to the front wheels and is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of 56.5-58.9mpg on the WLTP cycle.

The GR Sport and Premiere Edition trim levels are the highest available options and are priced at £40,645 and £42,720 respectively. While the C-HR is slightly more expensive than the equivalent Nissan Qashqai, it is cheaper than the equivalent Toyota RAV4 PHEV.

The production car adopts the radical design of the C-HR Prologue concept, which was unveiled last year. It features the new 'hammerhead' front-end design that was first seen on the latest Toyota Prius. The C-HR is the first SUV in Toyota's European lineup to showcase this design. Higher-grade trim levels also offer additional design elements such as 19-inch and 20-inch alloys and two-tone paintwork.
