Toyota has announced the pricing, equipment, and engine specifications for the second-generation C-HR crossover. The new C-HR aims to attract new customers to the brand and comes with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The range starts with the Icon trim, priced at £31,290. It features 17-inch alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, a 7.0-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay, and various safety systems. The Design trim, priced at an additional £3395, adds 18-inch alloys, a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, and a panoramic sunroof. The Excel trim, priced at £38,150, includes 19-inch alloys, a JBL sound system, and front sports seats.

The Icon, Design, and Excel trims are available with a 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain, which combines a 97bhp petrol engine with a 94bhp electric motor, resulting in a total power output of 138bhp. This powertrain is also used in the new Toyota Prius. The 1.8 hybrid sends power to the front wheels and offers a fuel economy of 56.5-58.9mpg on the WLTP cycle.

For higher trim levels, the GR Sport and Premiere Edition, prices start at £40,645 and £42,720 respectively. These trims make the C-HR slightly more expensive than the equivalent Nissan Qashqai but cheaper than the equivalent Toyota RAV4 PHEV.

The production version of the C-HR adopts the radical design of the C-HR Prologue concept, which was revealed last year. It features Toyota's new 'hammerhead' front-end design, which was first seen on the latest Toyota Prius. The higher-grade trim levels also offer larger alloy wheels and two-tone paintwork.
