2024 Volkswagen Tiguan debut

The third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan is set to arrive in India in 2024. The new model was unveiled globally at its world premiere in Wolfsburg, Germany. Since its debut in 2007, the Tiguan has been Volkswagen's best-selling model, with over 7.6 million units sold worldwide. Production of the third-gen Tiguan will begin later this year at the Wolfsburg facility.

The new Tiguan will first launch in various European markets in early 2024, followed by the US market. The 2024 model features a redesigned exterior, additional features, and a new plug-in hybrid engine option. It is based on Volkswagen's updated MQB 'evo' platform.

One of the notable changes in the 2024 Tiguan is the introduction of the newly developed IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights. These headlights use 38,400 multi-pixel LEDs for illumination and are connected by a slim LED light strip on top of the partial glass cover. The overall design of the Tiguan has also been updated, with a slightly curvier profile and new dual-tone alloy wheels.

The dimensions of the new Tiguan have also changed compared to the outgoing model. It measures 4539 mm in length, 1639 mm in height, and 1842 mm in width, with a wheelbase of 2680mm. The new model is 4mm taller and 30mm longer than its predecessor, and the boot space has increased by 37 litres to 652 litres.

Inside the cabin, the 2024 Tiguan offers high-quality materials and a new Digital Cockpit with a redesigned 10.25-inch digital instrument display. The infotainment system is a driver-oriented 15.1-inch display running on Volkswagen's latest MIB4 graphic design. The touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel have been replaced with physical buttons for better tactility.

The new Tiguan also offers a range of powertrain options, including turbo diesel engines, turbo petrol engines, mild hybrid turbo petrol engines, and plug-in hybrid systems. All powertrains come with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox as standard and are available with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
