26,000 Northern Ireland students receive A-level and AS-level results

Around 26,000 students in Northern Ireland are set to receive their A-level and AS-level results this Thursday. The Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) has established a results helpline to provide support and guidance. The helpline will be operational from 8am on Thursday, and from 9am to 5pm on weekdays until August 30.

Michael Crossan from CCEA acknowledges that results day can be both exciting and anxiety-inducing for students, parents, and teachers. He emphasizes the importance of the helpline, which offers experienced staff to answer questions and provide information on post-results services. Access to this information helps students make informed decisions about their future.

After the disruption caused by the pandemic, CCEA aims to return to the awarding arrangements that were in place before the pandemic by next summer. This year, students will once again be able to collect their results in person from their schools, although some schools may choose to send results digitally or by post.

Justin Kerr, head of the careers service at the Department for the Economy, encourages young people to utilize the specialist advice services provided by the department. He acknowledges the hard work and challenges faced by students during the pandemic and emphasizes the importance of making sound decisions for effective career planning. Kerr reassures students that advice and guidance are available, and the Careers Service is ready to assist them in achieving their career ambitions.
