August 2023 Kia global sales report
【Summary】Kia announced a 5.2% increase in global sales for August 2023, with 255,481 units sold. Sales outside of Korea saw a 5.8% increase, while Korean market sales increased by 2.4%. The Sportage SUV was the top-selling model, followed by the Seltos and Sorento SUVs. Kia plans to launch new models in the second half of 2023, including the Sorento SUV and Carnival MPV, as well as the EV9 electric SUV.
In August 2023, Kia Corporation reported a total of 255,481 units in global sales, representing a 5.2 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Excluding special purpose vehicles, sales outside of Korea saw a 5.8 percent growth, reaching 212,882 units. Meanwhile, in the Korean market, Kia recorded 42,225 unit sales, reflecting a 2.4 percent increase.
The sales momentum for Kia was driven by its SUV models, with the Sportage leading the way by selling 41,376 units in August. The Seltos and Sorento SUV models followed closely behind, with sales of 31,647 and 21,498 units respectively.
Outside of Korea, the Sportage SUV continued to dominate sales, with 36,166 units sold in other markets. The Seltos SUV and K3 (known as Forte outside of Korea) also performed well, selling 28,135 and 17,702 units respectively.
In the Korean market, Kia sold 42,225 units in August, experiencing a 2.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The Sorento SUV led the company's sales in its home market, with 7,176 units sold. The Sportage SUV and Carnival MPV followed with sales of 5,210 and 4,937 units respectively.
Looking ahead, Kia plans to maintain its sales momentum by introducing new models in the second half of 2023. The upcoming launch of the new Sorento SUV, K5 sedan, and Carnival MPV is expected to further strengthen the brand's proposition. Additionally, Kia will soon roll out the EV9, its first three-row seat electric flagship SUV, in global markets.
