BMW M4 'CS' model added in 2024
【Summary】BMW has announced plans to introduce a new 'CS' model to its M4 lineup in 2024. The M4 CS will feature a more aggressive exterior design, a power increase to 542bhp, and various cabin upgrades including carbon bucket seats. It is expected to be priced around £100,000 and will sit between the standard M4 and the CSL models. Additionally, BMW's CEO confirmed forthcoming updates for the M3, the launch of the next-generation hybrid M5, and touring models.
BMW is expanding its M4 lineup with the introduction of a new 'CS' variant. Positioned between the standard M4 and the more hardcore CSL models, the M4 CS is expected to build upon the upgrades seen in the M3 CS saloon released earlier this year.
Under the hood, the M4 CS will feature a 3.0-litre straight-six engine, but with a power increase to 542bhp. This boost in power comes from a reworked turbocharger and ECU. The car will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and BMW's four-wheel drive xDrive system, allowing for a 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 188mph.
Inside the cabin, the M4 CS will receive some minor updates, including the removal of the central storage compartment, carbon bucket seats, and Alcantara trim. There is speculation about whether BMW will replace the rear bench with more aggressive bucket seating, as seen in the current M5 CS.
On the exterior, the M4 CS will showcase a range of aggressive design changes. These include a carbon-fibre front splitter, rear diffuser, bonnet, and roof. The car is expected to be offered with either standard M Compound brakes or optional M Carbon ceramics, as well as Pirelli P Zero Corsa performance tires.
Pricing for the M4 CS has not been confirmed, but it is anticipated to be around £100,000, considering the prices of the M4 Competition (£80,050) and the CSL (£128,820).
In addition to the M4 CS, BMW M CEO Frank van Meel has announced that the brand's future plans include a mid-cycle refresh for the M3 saloon and M4 coupe. The company will also launch the next-generation hybrid M5 saloon and touring models.
