BYD's electric models make their way to Europe
【Summary】BYD, known for its popular electric SUV model, the BYD Atto 3, is expanding its presence in Europe. The company showcased six new electric models, including the BYD Seal and BYD Song Plus EV, at the IAA Mobility automotive show in Munich, Germany. The BYD Seal was officially launched for Europe with a starting price of €44,900. BYD also had record sales in August, selling over 274,386 new energy vehicles, with plans to build a manufacturing plant in Europe, potentially in France.
BYD has established a strong presence in the EV community in Australia, primarily due to the popularity of its electric SUV model, the BYD Atto 3. Within just 18 months, thousands of BYD vehicles have already hit the local roads, making Australia one of the first export markets for BYD's electric models.
Expanding its reach further, BYD has now entered multiple markets. A recent report from cnevpost highlights that the company showcased six models at the IAA Mobility automotive show in Munich, Germany. These models include the BYD Seal, BYD Song Plus EV, BYD Atto 3, BYD Dolphin, BYD Han, and the Denza D9 from BYD's luxury brand.
The BYD Seal was officially launched for the European market at the show, with pricing starting at €44,900 for the base model and €50,990 for the top-of-the-range variant. Another noteworthy vehicle displayed was the Song Plus EV, which may potentially be called the Seal-U in other markets. This electric SUV is 4,785 mm long, which is 330 mm longer than the Atto 3. It is expected to be available for sale in Europe in the coming months, making it a likely candidate for the Australian market within the next 18 months.
The Denza D9 is a luxury people mover belonging to BYD's luxury brand in China.
In August, BYD achieved record-breaking sales, with over 274,386 new energy vehicles (NEVs) sold. Among them, 25,023 were exported, and this number is expected to increase as the company continues its rapid global expansion beyond its origins as a battery maker.
Specifically in Europe, BYD has plans to establish a manufacturing plant. According to local publications, France is a top contender for the location of this EV manufacturing hub.
Currently, the BYD Atto 3 and BYD Dolphin are the only two models available for order in Australia, with the BYD Seal set to follow soon.
