Car-Themed Sneakers That Deserve Your Attention
【Summary】Porsche celebrates 60th anniversary of 911 sports car with release of retro-inspired sneakers. The sneakers pay homage to the 911 S/T and the original 911 S, featuring design elements such as light blue exterior, retro-grille-bad hangtag, and red-orange laces resembling Gulf Oil livery. The 911 S/T is the lightest car in Porsche's lineup, using a naturally-aspirated flat-six engine from the 911 GT3 RS.
Porsche is commemorating two significant milestones this year - the 75th anniversary of the brand and the 60th anniversary of the iconic 911 sports car. To mark these occasions, the German automaker has introduced the Porsche 911 S/T and released two new sneaker designs.
The Porsche 911 S/T is a lightweight car that takes inspiration from the 1972 911 S. It features a naturally-aspirated flat-six engine from the 911 GT3 RS, paired with a manual gearbox boasting shorter ratios and a single-mass flywheel. This combination results in an exhilarating driving experience.
In addition to the 911 S/T, Porsche Design has launched the classic Puma Retro Sneaker to pay homage to the legendary 911 S 2.5. The sneaker is adorned with a light blue exterior, a retro-grille-bad hangtag design, and even the iconic starting number 56 on the heel. This number represents the Porsche 911 that participated in GT racing in 1972, making it a true classic.
To further enhance the retro racing aesthetic, the Puma Retro Sneaker features red-orange laces, reminiscent of the Gulf Oil livery. This attention to detail adds an extra touch of authenticity to the design, making it a must-have for Porsche enthusiasts and sneaker collectors alike.
With the introduction of the Porsche 911 S/T and the release of the Puma Retro Sneaker, Porsche continues to celebrate its rich heritage and the timeless appeal of the 911 sports car. These new offerings are a testament to the brand's commitment to innovation, performance, and style.
