Chengdu auto show to feature 1,600 models

The 26th Chengdu Motor Show is set to begin on August 25 in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province, according to Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai, one of the organizers. The event, which will run until September 3, will showcase approximately 1,600 models from 129 automotive brands from various countries, including China, the United States, Germany, and Japan.
Chinese brand IM will unveil its latest LS6 SUV at the show, while BYD, China's largest NEV maker, will present a wide range of models from all its marques. Visitors can also expect to see the latest models from international brands such as BMW and Bentley.
In addition to the vehicle displays, the organizers have planned forums and events that will allow visitors to experience the models firsthand. Liu Guoliang, president of Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai, believes that the motor show and its events will contribute to increased vehicle sales in Sichuan province and Southwest China as a whole.
Chengdu is currently home to over 6 million vehicles, making it one of the cities with a high number of vehicles in the country. China, being the world's largest vehicle market, recorded over 15.62 million vehicle sales in the first seven months of the year, a 7.9 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
