A Chinese company that specializes in electric vehicle production is planning to open a service center in Bishkek, according to reports. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, recently met with Ivan Cao, the Deputy Chairman of BYD Co Ltd, during a working trip to China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The meeting focused on discussing cooperation in the production and sale of electric vehicles, as well as the development of gas stations and charging systems. Japarov expressed the government's willingness to adopt a state incentive program to encourage the use of electric vehicles and create favorable conditions for the installation of charging stations across the country.

During the meeting, Cao revealed that BYD Co Ltd plans to open a service center in Bishkek by the fourth quarter of 2023. He also expressed the company's readiness to expand cooperation in the future.

In addition to this, Japarov also met with Zhu Huazhong, the chairman of Chongqing Changan Automobile Company Limited, another Chinese company that produces electric vehicles. The parties agreed to establish direct contacts with representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic's state bodies and senior officials of the Chinese automaker to initiate cooperation.

Japarov instructed the Minister of Economy and Commerce, Daniyar Amangeldiev, to start negotiations with the company and organize a mutual visit by the chairman of Chongqing Changan Automobile Company Limited to Kyrgyzstan. The government sees the construction and launch of a plant for the production of chargers and electric vehicles as a way to accelerate the transition from combustion engine cars to environmentally friendly electric vehicles and achieve carbon neutrality.

The chairman of Chongqing Changan Automobile Company Limited expressed readiness for cooperation and emphasized that their expertise in this field could help transform Bishkek into a "green city".
