Munro Vehicles, a Scottish manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s, is making progress in completing its first vehicles for customers. The factory in East Kilbride has received over 250 pre-orders for both truck and pick-up models, and the company expects volume to increase from target markets such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defence.
The company recently invited 61 investors, deposit holders, and supporters to witness the production of the first light vehicle in Scotland in over four decades. Conservative MSP Graham Simpson, who is part of the Scottish Parliament's Sustainable Transport and Energy Efficiency groups, expressed his excitement about Munro Vehicles and its potential impact on Scotland's future. He believes that the company's rugged, all-electric 4x4 could provide a solution for sectors like agriculture, forestry, and wind turbine management, which are difficult to decarbonize. Simpson also sees the potential for Munro to become a major employer in the region, creating highly skilled jobs.
Munro CEO and Co-Founder Russell Peterson expressed his pride in the engineering and passion that goes into building their all-terrain electric vehicles. He welcomed MSP Graham Simpson to their headquarters and showcased Scottish innovation in sustainable transport.
