DAF Trucks has unveiled its latest New Generation DAF XB truck series, which includes a range of distribution and vocational vehicles from 7.5 to 19 tonnes GVW. The new series aims to support transport companies in their transition to zero emissions, offering both battery electric and conventionally powered vehicles. The DAF XB combines low environmental impact with efficiency, safety, and comfort.

The New Generation DAF XB sets new standards for city and regional distribution, with tailor-made solutions available between 7.5 and 19 tonnes GVW. The series boasts the lowest carbon footprint in its class, along with exceptional efficiency, safety, and comfort features. For urban distribution, there are battery electric options available in 12, 16, and 19-tonne GVW variants, offering ranges of up to 350 kilometres and quick charging times. DAF also provides dedicated sales support, planning advice, training, and a range of chargers.

The DAF XB series is equipped with powerful and efficient PACCAR PX-5 and PX-7 engines, with outputs ranging from 124 kW to 227 kW. These engines offer peak torque at low engine speeds, resulting in excellent fuel efficiency. The series also supports the use of HVO, which can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% 'well-to-wheel'. In terms of safety, the DAF XB features a full set of ADAS systems and outstanding direct vision. Driver comfort is prioritized with high-quality cabs, exceptional accessibility, and customizable digital displays.

In addition to the distribution models, DAF Trucks has introduced the DAF XBC for construction applications. This model offers high ground clearance, an excellent approach angle, and robust features suitable for challenging environments. The DAF XB series builds upon the company's leading position in the UK distribution sector and aims to provide a comprehensive range of trucks for various applications.

The DAF XB series, including the XBC construction model, will enter production in the fourth quarter of 2023. With the addition of the XB series, DAF completes its New Generation line-up, which includes XD, XF, XG, and XG+ trucks for distribution, long haul, and vocational applications. DAF Trucks continues to expand its zero-emission product offering, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and the development of livable cities.

DAF Trucks has been at the forefront of electric truck manufacturing in Europe, and the introduction of the DAF XB Electric further expands its zero-emission product range. The XB Electric is specifically designed for sustainable inner-city and regional distribution operations. It is available in different models, with varying power and torque specifications, and is equipped with lithium iron phosphate battery packs. These batteries offer a range of up to 350 kilometres and can be rapidly charged using the Combined Charging System.

Alongside the XB Electric, DAF offers a range of PACCAR charging solutions, route planning advice, and driver training to support customers in their transition to zero-emission road transport. The DAF XB series also includes highly efficient PACCAR engines, which provide excellent fuel efficiency and support the use of HVO for further emissions reduction. The series is available with automatic PowerLine transmissions and offers a range of options for bodywork, ensuring optimal vehicle configuration for different applications.

Safety is a top priority for the DAF XB series, with advanced driver assistance systems and features such as drive-off assist, side and turn assist, and speed limit recognition. The series also prioritizes driver comfort, with spacious and accessible cabs, comfortable seats, and a user-friendly digital display. The new DAF XB is designed to be agile and maneuverable, making it suitable for navigating challenging urban road networks.

In addition to the on-road XB series, DAF is introducing the XBC series, which is specifically designed for construction and utility applications. The XBC features a robust design with a high ground clearance, large approach angle, and protective features for challenging environments.
