Honda, through its premium American-market sister brand Acura, has provided a closer look at the upcoming electric successor to the NSX supercar. In new images, Acura has hinted at the first elements of a new design language, giving us a glimpse of what to expect when the road car finally debuts.

While there is limited information available about the model, we do know that it will be one of two electric sports cars currently in development. Honda's previous flagship, the second-generation NSX, was one of the first mid-engined supercars to incorporate hybrid power, generating over 570bhp from its turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain. It is anticipated that this level of technical innovation will continue with the third generation of Honda's supercar.

Honda's President, Toshihiro Mibe, announced plans for a successor during a video presentation that outlined significant investments in a broader range of electric car projects. This includes a new joint venture with General Motors to develop electric vehicles for the American market. Mibe stated, "We are considering the launch of two sports models globally - a specialty model and a flagship model that embody Honda's universal sporting mindset and distinctive characteristics. We will diligently develop these models to meet expectations."
