Open-Top Electric Hypercar With 1,877 HP

Pininfarina made a big splash at Monterey Car Week by unveiling a stunning new roofless hypercar. This Italian coachbuilder's creation is not only breathtaking but also the most expensive electric vehicle (EV) currently on the market. Known as the B95, this handcrafted ride comes with a hefty price tag of $4.78 million (€4.4 million) and will only be produced in a limited edition of 10 units.

However, exclusivity is not the only selling point of the B95. Rooted in Pininfarina's new PURA design philosophy, this hypercar perfectly combines retro-futuristic style with the latest technological innovations. The "B" in its name stands for barchetta, which means "little boat" in Italian, and refers to its open-top body. The body itself features sleek and muscular lines, finished in a glossy Bronzo Superga paint with gold metallic flakes and black exposed carbon detailing. The forged aluminum wheels also add a touch of elegance to the overall design.

Interestingly, the B95 does not have a traditional windshield. Instead, Pininfarina has equipped it with "the world's first electronically adjustable aero screens." These clear polycarbonate panels, inspired by vintage fighter planes, can be raised or lowered by the driver. They ensure that fast-moving air is directed over and above the passengers without compromising the car's minimalist design. Pininfarina's CTO, Andrea Crespi, highlights that this patented technology allows for open-top driving comfort even at high speeds.

Under the hood, the B95 shares the same powertrain as the Battista hyper GT, but it has been fine-tuned by Pininfarina. With four individual motors, this EV can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h). It is equipped with a 120 kWh lithium-ion battery that can be charged from 20% to 80% capacity in just 25 minutes using a DC fast charger. Although the B95's range has not been specified, the Battista can cover 300 miles on a single charge.

Inside the cabin, the B95 offers a luxurious experience. The sculptural dashboard and enveloping race seats are covered in tan leather, creating a sense of elegance and comfort. The interior is further enhanced with touches of black aluminum, which seamlessly blend the interior with the exterior design.

What sets the B95 apart is that each of the 10 examples will be unique. Collectors have the opportunity to customize their B95 according to their personal taste. From laser-engraved aluminum door plates to bespoke helmets that match the car, Pininfarina offers a range of customization options. This hypercar is not just about speed and luxury; it is also about personalization and individuality.
