Electric sports car Tokyo reveal

Subaru is generating anticipation for its upcoming showcase at the 2023 Tokyo Mobility Show, where the Subaru Sport Mobility Concept is expected to take center stage. While details remain scarce, the name alone suggests an offering that will appeal to enthusiasts.

Described by Subaru as an electric vehicle designed for fun, the Sport Mobility Concept represents an evolution of the brand's sporting ambitions. Its sleek profile sets it apart from the typical electric crossovers on the market.

An enhanced version of the teaser image reveals a distinctive glass canopy, reminiscent of the 1991-96 SVX model known for its unique window-in-window design. The windshield area appears to incorporate an illuminated section, likely housing Subaru's EyeSight safety sensors and cameras, which aid in functions such as lane keeping and pre-collision braking.

Further examination of the teaser image unveils muscular fenders with body-colored cladding, featuring a hexagonal pattern commonly seen on current Subaru models like the WRX. This departure from the typical black plastic cladding adds to the concept's sporty aesthetic.

The front of the vehicle showcases two slim LED headlights, accompanied by wider openings for additional driving or rally lights. Illuminating the hood is Subaru's logo, which represents the Pleiades constellation and is synonymous with the brand's name in Japanese.

As the automotive industry rushes towards electric vehicles, most manufacturers have focused on producing electric crossovers, trucks, and luxury vehicles. However, the question remains: which automaker will be the first to introduce an electric compact sports coupe for those who still appreciate the joy of driving? Hopefully, the Subaru Sport Mobility concept will not disappoint and prove to be more than just an idea.
