Exposed Tesla Cybertruck suspension system in spy shots

A Tesla Cybertruck release candidate has been spotted by the roadside in California, where it had apparently broken down. An opportunistic motorist took advantage of the situation and captured some spy shots of the Cybertruck, including images of its suspension.

Photos of the abandoned Cybertruck have been shared online. The vehicle, believed to be a likely release candidate, had engine problems and was left covered at the roadside near Los Altos Hills in California. A Tesla engineer attempted to fix the issue but ultimately had to leave the truck covered and abandoned. This allowed a curious bystander to take some sneaky shots of the forlorn vehicle.

The images reveal that the Cybertruck is covered with a reflective sheet, but it also features a familiar camouflage pattern, suggesting that it could be a release candidate or prototype that has undergone terrain testing in other parts of the world. Additionally, shots of the bottom of the truck show a grouping of holes that may be intended for a truck reversing speaker.

Further information about the Cybertruck's suspension has been provided by a former suspension engineer. According to the expert, the rear lower A-arm of the Cybertruck is made of two pieces of welded steel, which differs from the casting at the front. There also appears to be an actuator for dynamically modifying the damping. Overall, the comments about the Cybertruck's suspension are positive, describing it as simple but robust, although it is noted that it could still be a prototype system.
