During the early hours of Sunday morning, a horrific crash occurred in the Free State, resulting in the deaths of five people. The crash took place at the crossing of the N6 national road and R702 road, involving a Greyhound luxury coach and a white Volkswagen Polo.

Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Covane, the provincial police spokesperson, provided details of the incident. He stated that three men and two women lost their lives in the collision. According to the report, the bus was traveling south towards Reddersburg when it allegedly ran over the Polo, which was heading west from the east direction and failed to obey the stop sign. The impact caused the Polo to roll.

As a result of the crash, three passengers were ejected from the vehicle, while the driver and another passenger remained trapped inside. Emergency personnel quickly responded to the scene, but unfortunately, all five occupants of the Volkswagen Polo were declared dead on site. The driver of the Greyhound bus was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The police have opened a case of culpable homicide in relation to the incident. The victims of the crash are believed to be young, although their identities remain unknown. Covane mentioned that the investigation is ongoing, and it was discovered that the Polo is still registered as 'We Buy Cars' property after being tested.
