Ferrari 296 Challenge global debut
【Summary】Ferrari has revealed the 296 Challenge, the latest addition to its Challenge Trofeo Pirelli range. The sports car will debut globally on October 23 and will feature upgrades in powertrain, aero, and vehicle dynamics. It boasts a 2992cc twin-turbo engine, generating 690 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque. The 296 Challenge also offers exceptional aerodynamics, producing over 870 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. It will replace the 488 Challenge Evo in Ferrari's lineup.
The Ferrari 296 Challenge has been unveiled by Ferrari ahead of its global debut on October 23. The sports car will then be showcased at the Mugello Circuit from October 24 to 30. This new model will be the ninth addition to Ferrari's Challenge Trofeo Pirelli range.
Expected to be available in North American and European markets next year, the 296 Challenge comes with various new features compared to the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo. The design of this road-legal car has been optimized for track usage.
The Ferrari 296 Challenge sets new standards in terms of performance and lap consistency in the Prancing Horse single-make series. It shares many specifications with the 296 GT3, which was introduced earlier this year. Based on the 296 GTB, the 296 Challenge has significant upgrades in the powertrain, aerodynamics, and vehicle dynamics to ensure maximum performance on the track.
Under the hood, the Ferrari 296 Challenge is powered by the first 120-degree V6 engine in the history of the Finali Mondiali championship. This engine, without any hybrid components, produces 690 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque, resulting in an impressive 231 hp per liter.
The 296 Challenge also boasts exceptional aerodynamics, generating over 870 kg of downforce at 250 km/h with the spoiler at its maximum angle of attack. It is equipped with new CCM-R PLUS brake discs and carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes with ABS EVO Track setup to ensure efficient braking.
Furthermore, the 296 Challenge features specifically-developed Pirelli 19-inch tires to enhance its on-road dynamics. This model will replace the 488 Challenge Evo in Ferrari's lineup.
