Ferrari 296 Challenge global debut

The Ferrari 296 Challenge has been unveiled by Ferrari ahead of its global debut on October 23rd. The car will then be showcased to the public at the Mugello Circuit from October 24th to 30th. This new model will be the ninth addition to the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli range.

Expected to launch in North American and European markets next year, the 296 Challenge comes with a range of new features compared to its predecessor, the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo. The design of this road-legal car has been optimized for track usage.

The 296 Challenge sets new standards in terms of performance and lap consistency in the Prancing Horse single-make series. It shares many specifications with the 296 GT3, which was introduced earlier this year. Based on the 296 GTB, the 296 Challenge features significant upgrades in its powertrain, aero, and vehicle dynamics, all aimed at delivering maximum performance on the track.

Powering the Ferrari 296 Challenge is the first-ever 120-degree V6 engine in the history of the Finali Mondiali championship. This engine, which does not have any hybrid components, produces an impressive 690 horsepower and 740 Nm of torque, resulting in an astonishing 231 hp per liter.

In addition to its powerful engine, the 296 Challenge also boasts exceptional aerodynamics. At its maximum angle of attack, the car generates over 870 kg of downforce at a speed of 250 km/h. The addition of new CCM-R PLUS brake discs, along with the ABS EVO Track setup featuring carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes, ensures excellent stopping power.

The new Ferrari 296 Challenge also benefits from specifically-developed Pirelli 19-inch tires, which enhance its on-road dynamics. This model will replace the 488 Challenge Evo in Ferrari's lineup.
