Ford of Europe is set to introduce a new camper van that is equipped with a pop-up roof featuring a solar panel. The company has recently unveiled a range of new vans and is now preparing to enter the camper van market. The model is scheduled to be revealed on August 24 and Ford promises that it will provide an unforgettable outdoor experience, embracing the popular "VanLife" trend.
In teaser videos released by Ford, we catch a glimpse of the exterior of the camper van. It features a sliding side window and a pop-up roof with a solar panel. When the roof is raised, there is ample standing room inside the van. Although not much else is shown in the videos, the interior is expected to have stylish counters, a refrigerated drawer, zippered window coverings, and a rear touchscreen display for adjusting the color changing lighting system. Additionally, there appears to be a sink and an external shower head or washer.
While Ford has not confirmed the exact model of the camper van, it is speculated to be a redesigned version of the Transit Custom Nugget. The timing aligns with the introduction of the redesigned Transit Custom last September, and the rear quarter glass suggests that the camper van is based on this model. The camper van variant is likely to make its debut at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon later this week, where full details about the vehicle will be revealed.
The Transit Custom is known for its variety of powertrain options, including EcoBlue diesel engines with outputs ranging from 108 hp to 168 hp, as well as plug-in hybrid and electric variants. More information about the camper van's specifications and features will be available soon.
