Honda WR-V Gets a Stylish Street Racer Makeover
【Summary】The Honda WR-V showcased at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show features a hot hatch supermini appearance, thanks to visual modifications by tuning firm "The Elite Indonesia". The SUV's lowered suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, bodykit, decals, rear wing, and dual exhaust pipes enhance its sporty look. However, no performance modifications have been mentioned, indicating that the SUV retains its stock engine.
The Honda WR-V, a compact SUV in Honda's global lineup, made an appearance at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show with a special version. This unique variant, created in collaboration with tuning firm "The Elite Indonesia," takes on the appearance of a hot hatch supermini through a series of visual modifications.
The standout feature of this modified WR-V is its lowered coil spring suspension, which gives it a more aggressive stance. The dark-finished Work Emotion 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in wider and low-profile Michelin Primacy 4 tires, further enhance its look.
Based on the RS trim, the special version retains the characteristic red and black duo-tone treatment but adds a more aggressive bodykit. This includes a front bumper lip, side skirts, and a rear diffuser, giving the vehicle a sportier and more grounded appearance. Additional visual enhancements include white and gray decals on the profile, a larger rear wing, and dual exhaust pipes at the back.
While the modified WR-V boasts an eye-catching design, there is no information about any performance modifications. It is likely that the SUV retains its stock naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine, which produces 119 hp (89 kW / 121 PS) and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque – similar to the mechanically-related BR-V.
The main target audience for the small SUV in Indonesia is the younger generation, and the modified Honda WR-V aims to appeal to their preferences. However, it is uncertain if a similarly sporty-looking trim will be available for production. For owners who admire the show car, aftermarket parts can be used to achieve similar modifications on their WR-V.
