Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: Confirmed UK Pricing

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is an intriguing electric vehicle that combines the qualities of a hot hatch with the power of electricity. With a stiffer body, improved suspension, and a whopping 650hp, it offers a unique driving experience. The N e-shift, N Grin Boost, and N Drift Optimiser with Torque Kick Drift are just a few of the exciting features that make this EV stand out. It's clear that Hyundai has designed the Ioniq 5 N with a focus on the driver.

In the UK, the price of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is set at £65,000, which aligns with the original estimates. Buyers will also receive a range of additional features, including Hyundai's updated CCnC navigation, wireless phone mirroring, a head-up display with N-specific layouts, 21-inch wheels, Pirelli P Zero tyres, and the N bodykit. The standard Ioniq 5 already comes with plenty of active safety features, big screens, and ample charge ports, so there's no shortage of equipment.

Contrary to what the pictures may suggest, the Ioniq 5 N will be available in colors other than gloss Performance Blue. Matte Performance Blue is one option, and there are seven others to choose from, including pearl Abyss Black, Atlas White (matte and gloss), Ecotronic Grey (pearl and matte), metallic Cyber Grey, and Soultronic Orange. While the standard paint color is included in the base price, the other finishes come with an additional cost ranging from £665 to £885.

Aside from the paint and an optional £1,250 Vision Roof, there are no major additions to the £65,000 price tag. This means that the maximum cost of the Ioniq 5 N in the UK is £67,135. While this may seem like a lot for a Hyundai, it's a reasonable price considering the impressive 650hp performance.

When comparing the Ioniq 5 N to its rivals, the closest conventional hot hatch competitor is the Mercedes-AMG A45 S, priced at £63,285. However, the two vehicles offer very different driving experiences. There are also alternatives from Genesis and Kia, which share many components with the Hyundai. The EV6 GT from Kia offers 585hp and starts at £62,645, while the Genesis GV60 with a dual-motor 490hp setup is priced from £67,705. In terms of similarly driver-focused EVs, the BMW i4 M50 may have a different shape and slightly less power at 544hp, but it falls within a similar price range at £71,085.

Ashley Andrew, Hyundai UK's President, describes the Ioniq 5 N as the first EV for driving enthusiasts. He emphasizes the combination of high performance, precision handling, and state-of-the-art technology that creates an emotional connection lacking in other performance EVs. The Ioniq 5 N offers a driver-centric driving experience, while also providing the option for a quiet, comfortable, and efficient zero-emission family SUV. The hope is that the car lives up to its promises and justifies its asking price.
