Investigation into Ram Trucks Following Crashes

On the NHTSA website, detailed user issues can be found. One owner from Trenton, ME, shares their experience, stating that their EPS cuts out intermittently. They mention that sometimes the power steering is there, and other times it is not. They also discovered that other vehicles from the same year and manufacturer have the same problem and have been recalled, but not theirs.

Another owner, this time from Monroe, GA, shares a more alarming testimonial. They explain that their truck lost steering power completely, leaving them with no control over the steering. Fortunately, they were able to stop without getting into an accident.

A few months ago, a "do not drive" advisory was issued for 29,000 units of the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks due to Takata Airbag recalls.

Currently, the NHTSA is still investigating the power steering issues with the Ram 1500s, and a decision regarding a potential recall has not been made yet. However, the agency is urging owners of the affected trucks to promptly report any power steering problems they come across.
