Jaguar Land Rover's sustainable lorry fleet to be launched in the UK

JLR (formerly Jaguar Land Rover) has announced plans to introduce a new fleet of bio-fuelled lorries across the UK in April 2024. The goal of this initiative is to significantly reduce the company's carbon emissions from road freight.

The new fleet will consist of 220 more sustainable HGVs, with 219 of them running on biofuels and one being battery-electric. According to JLR's estimates, this transition will result in an impressive 84% reduction in the company's road-freight CO2 output.

To achieve these emissions reductions, the bio-fuelled HGVs will utilize a combination of bio-CNG (compressed natural gas) and hydrogenated vegetable oil. This innovative approach is expected to bring a minimum CO2 saving of 85% per lorry. Additionally, the hydrogenated vegetable oil will be used to reduce the emissions of JLR's existing lorries.

In addition to the switch to new fuels, JLR is also planning to transition to using 15.6-metre lorries. This change is aimed at further improving the efficiency and sustainability of the company's road freight operations.
