Jaguar's new era with electric four-door GT

Jaguar is set to embark on its all-electric future with the introduction of a £100,000 four-door GT. Our exclusive image offers a glimpse into what we can expect from the vehicle. The rear image reveals a departure from the current design direction of Jaguar's lineup, featuring distinct squared-off angles and a wide stance. With solid surfacing, advanced aerodynamic treatment, and a prominent diffuser, the GT aims to enhance its range. The razor-thin tail-lights add to the overall aesthetic. This new design language represents a fresh visual identity for Jaguar, as expressed by JLR boss Adrian Mardell.

The process of creating the GT was initiated by JLR's Chief Creative Officer, Gerry McGovern, as part of Project Renaissance. Three teams within JLR's design studio in Gaydon were given a common brief to produce three distinct types of vehicles. In just three months, 18 clay-model proposals were generated. It is anticipated that several prototypes of the GT will undergo road testing by the end of the year. An official unveiling is planned for April or May 2024, with sales expected in 2025. The GT's design also reflects what can be anticipated from the two new crossovers that will complete the Jaguar lineup, establishing a cohesive family look.

Jaguar's reimagining is a key component of JLR's strategy, with the brand being positioned alongside Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery as one of the four 'brand pillars'. The GT will be produced at the Solihull plant, which will also manufacture the all-electric Range Rover. As the most powerful Jaguar production car ever made, the GT will surpass the existing EV, the I-Pace, in terms of range and charging capacity. Although specific motor outputs and performance figures have not been released, Jaguar claims the new model will offer up to 700km (435 miles) of range and the ability to add approximately 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes of rapid charging.
