Kia EV5 electric SUV production model unveiled

The Korean car brands, Kia and Hyundai, have been very active in recent years, constantly releasing new models. The latest addition to the Kia lineup is the EV5, a compact electric SUV. It was unveiled at the Chengdu motor show in China.

The EV5 features chunky styling, taking inspiration from the larger seven-seat Kia EV9. It aims to offer more practicality than the sleek EV6.

Kia has confirmed that the EV5 will be available in the Chinese market by the end of the year. However, there is no official word yet on whether it will be released in the UK. The full specifications of the EV5 have not been released, but it is expected to have similar dimensions to the popular mid-sized petrol-powered Sportage model.

The design of the production EV5 closely follows the styling of the EV5 concept car, which was showcased earlier this year at the Shanghai Auto Show. It incorporates Kia's 'Opposites United' design language, seen in other models like the EV9 and the updated Kia Picanto. The front of the EV5 features a distinctive 'Tiger Face' grille design, created using LED daytime running light elements.
