Kia's upcoming electric vehicle lineup

Next week, Kia will be debuting two new electric vehicles at its EV Day event in Korea. One of the vehicles will be a sporty-looking electric sedan, while the other will be an electric crossover. This event is part of Kia's global electric vehicle vision and will showcase three new small to medium electric models.

Kia's EV Day is set to become an annual tradition where they will unveil new EVs, concepts, and technology. This event will provide a detailed overview of Kia's entire EV lineup. From the promo images that have been released, we can see five electric models.

On the far left is the EV6 sedan, easily identifiable by its headlights. The far right showcases the brand's flagship EV9, while the model up front appears to be the new Kia EV5. The EV5 was previously unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show in China and is expected to compete with Tesla's Model Y in China with a starting price of around $22,000.

Before its debut on November 17, Kia will provide detailed specifications of the EV5 at the EV Day event next week. In addition to the three models mentioned, there are two more new EV models to be unveiled. One of them seems to be a sporty electric sedan, while the other is a compact crossover that will sit below the EV5.

Recently, an entry-level subcompact electric crossover, possibly named the EV3 or EV4, was spotted testing in the US. The images reveal a boxy design influenced by the EV9 but in a smaller package. Despite heavy camouflage, the stacked LED headlights of the new EV can be seen. Rumors suggest that the compact crossover will have a starting price of around $30,000 to $40,000 and may serve as the dedicated electric successor to Kia's Soul.

The interior of the new EV is likely to feature Kia's digital cockpit with dual screens, similar to the EV5. Not much is known about the electric sedan at this time, but Kia has previously stated that it will have coverage in all major segments.

The EV3 or EV4 is expected to ride on Hyundai's new Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA), which will also support 13 new dedicated EVs from the Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands.

Kia has ambitious plans for its electric vehicle lineup, aiming to sell 1.6 million EVs annually by 2030 and introducing 15 new electric models by 2027. The company has undergone a full-scale transformation since 2021, including a new logo, product, and design strategy. This transformation has proven successful, as Kia has experienced 14 consecutive months of year-over-year sales growth in the US and had its best third quarter ever.

More information about Kia's new electric models will be revealed at the EV Day event on October 12.
