The long-awaited electric Lamborghini has finally arrived. After the success of the Urus SUV, the company is now venturing into a new segment with the introduction of the Lanzador, a stunning four-seat GT.

Unveiled as a concept at Monterey Car Week in California, the Lanzador is set to be launched five years from now. This rakish two-row supercar has a similar size to the Porsche Taycan but sits higher from the ground for added versatility.

The Lanzador serves as a bridge between the Urus and Lamborghini's traditional mid-engined supercars. It represents a concrete vision of the company's next model line, offering best-in-class sportiness and a fun-to-drive character that stays true to Lamborghini's DNA.

More than just a show car, the Lanzador is described as a "laboratory on wheels" that showcases the production intent of its technology and manufacturing methods.

The confirmation of an electric Lamborghini came in 2021 when CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed discussions about the car's body style and positioning. However, speculation about Lamborghini's first EV has been circulating since 2017, when the Terzo Millennio hypercar hinted at the company's zero-emission future.

The Lanzador provides a glimpse into Lamborghini's electric future. When asked why the new model is being shown five years before its release, Winkelmann explained that it is a strategic move to prepare the market and allow time for feedback and development.

Over the next five years, Lamborghini will seek opinions and explore new approaches to ensure its EVs have a distinctive character.
