Ruf CTR 3 Evo tuner's powerful car
【Summary】German tuner Ruf has unveiled its most powerful car yet, the CTR 3 Evo. Based on the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport, it features a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat six engine producing 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. The body is made from a Kevlar-composite for lightweight and strength. The top speed and 0-62mph time are yet to be revealed, but it is expected to be faster than the Clubsport. The CTR 3 Evo will cost over $725,000 and will compete with Porsche and Ferrari models.
German manufacturer and Porsche tuning specialist Ruf has introduced its most powerful car to date, the CTR 3 Evo. This new model, unveiled at Monterey Car Week, is a completely redesigned and heavily upgraded version based on the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport, but it is separate from it.
The CTR 3 Evo is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat six engine that produces an impressive 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. This is 23bhp and 8lb ft more than the Clubsport. The maximum power of the CTR 3 Evo is achieved at 7100rpm, while its maximum torque is deployed at 4000rpm.
While the car pictured is fitted with Ruf's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it is worth noting that the Clubsport offers the option of a six-speed manual. Therefore, it is possible that the Evo may also become available with this manual transmission option.
The body of the CTR 3 Evo is constructed from a Kevlar-composite material, similar to the Koenigsegg Agera RS. This material is known for its lightweight properties, strength, and heat resistance.
Although the top speed and 0-62mph time of the CTR 3 Evo have not yet been disclosed, it is expected to be faster than the Clubsport. The Clubsport is capable of reaching a top speed of 236mph and accelerating from 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.
In addition to engine tuning, the CTR 3 Evo features various upgrades. These include modifications to the MacPherson-strut front suspension, a multi-link rear suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a track-ready dry-sump lubrication system similar to those used in the Ferrari 488 GTB and Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Inside the CTR 3 Evo, one-piece body-hugging sports seats made from carbonfibre are upholstered in Alcantara with contrasting yellow stitching, providing both comfort and style.
Customers interested in the CTR 3 Evo can place an order at a price exceeding $725,000 (£570,466). This makes it more expensive than the similarly positioned Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 and the similarly potent Ferrari SF90.
