Lamborghini unveils their first-ever four-seat electric vehicle
【Summary】Lamborghini has unveiled its first electric vehicle, the four-seat Lanzador GT concept. Scheduled for launch in five years, the Lanzador aims to bridge the gap between the Urus SUV and Lamborghini's mid-engined supercars. Described as a "laboratory on wheels," the concept showcases the company's production intent for electric technology and manufacturing methods.
The long-awaited electric Lamborghini has finally arrived, marking another milestone for the supercar firm. After the successful launch of the Urus SUV five years ago, Lamborghini is now venturing into a new segment with the introduction of the Lanzador, a stunning four-seat GT.
The Lanzador was first revealed as a concept at Monterey Car Week in California, with its official launch scheduled for five years from now. This sleek two-row supercar shares a similar size to the Porsche Taycan but sits higher from the ground, aiming for increased versatility.
Designed as a bridge between the Urus and Lamborghini's traditional mid-engined supercars, the Lanzador represents the company's vision for its next model line. It promises to stay true to Lamborghini's DNA by offering best-in-class sportiness and a fun-to-drive character.
More than just a show car, the Lanzador is described as a "laboratory on wheels." This emphasizes its role in showcasing the production intent of the technology and manufacturing methods it features.
The confirmation of an electric Lamborghini came in 2021 when CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed discussions about the car's body style and positioning. However, speculation about Lamborghini's first EV has been circulating since 2017, when the impressive Terzo Millennio hypercar hinted at the company's zero-emission future.
By unveiling the Lanzador five years ahead of its release, Lamborghini aims to prepare the market and generate anticipation. Winkelmann explains that entering a new segment without jeopardizing the existing lineup requires careful planning and market preparation. This early reveal allows Lamborghini to gather feedback and develop a distinctive character for its future EVs.
