Lucid Gravity electric SUV premieres at 2023 LA Auto Show

The Lucid Gravity luxury SUV is set to be fully revealed on 16 November at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This new vehicle comes from the makers of the groundbreaking Lucid Air saloon and aims to make a mark in the highly lucrative electric SUV market.

When the Lucid Gravity hits the market in 2024, it will face tough competition from established luxury electric SUVs such as the BMW iX, Mercedes EQS SUV, Tesla Model X, Lotus Eletre, Volvo EX90, and the all-electric version of the Range Rover. The battle for dominance in this market will be fierce.

In November 2022, the Silicon Valley-based EV maker released teaser images of the Lucid Gravity, giving us a glimpse of its design and capabilities. The SUV features the distinctive front end design and 'LED Micro Array' headlights of the Lucid Air, along with a contrasting roofline and full-width rear light bar. The windscreen flows back over the front seat passengers, with a horizontal crossbar providing structural support.

Lucid claims that the Gravity will be the most aerodynamic SUV ever seen, despite its boxy, traditional SUV shape. The short overhangs at the front and rear maximize the space inside. The SUV will be available in five, six, or seven-seat configurations, with the six-seat version featuring a pair of reclining lounge-like chairs in the middle row.

Regarding the interior design, the Lucid Gravity is expected to have a similar cabin design to the Lucid Air. It will feature the next-generation of Lucid's UX infotainment software and 'Glass Cockpit' displays. The instrument and infotainment panel will be a gently curved 34-inch 5K display, similar to the setup in the Porsche Taycan. The SUV will also have a retractable screen for adjusting settings and drive modes, along with physical shortcut buttons.
