Mark Newberry, commercial director, UK and Ireland at Europcar Mobility Group, shares his proudest career moment and his favorite takeaway food. When asked about his ambition in his current job role, Newberry expresses his desire to continue his professional development in this new sector and to make life easier for their customers.

As a child, Newberry wanted to be an architect because he enjoyed technical drawing in school and saw it as an opportunity to do more. Reflecting on his career, Newberry considers his journey from a frontline role at a call center to his current position as a proud moment. He also mentions the award his team won at Green Flag during Covid for offering free recoveries for NHS staff.

When it comes to takeaway food, Newberry's favorite is fish and chips with mushy peas on the side, closely followed by a curry. When asked about his favorite James Bond, he chooses Daniel Craig, noting that Craig is the closest thing to being ginger like him.

If money were no object, Newberry would buy a place in the Lake District, as his family enjoys visiting there once a year. In terms of his dream garage, he would have Inspector Morse's Jaguar Mk 2, an ID. Buzz, and his first car, a gold Nissan Micra.

Newberry believes that one of the biggest challenges facing fleets at the moment is sourcing vehicles that drivers want and dealing with maintenance and repairs in a timely manner. He emphasizes that having a vehicle off the road affects the person and their mobility, regardless of the fleet size.

On his dream holiday, Newberry would choose the Inca Trail, although he has never been there. When asked about his preference between a night in or a night out, he opts for a night out because he already has a lot of nights in. He enjoys music and dancing, so anywhere good in Bristol would do.

When it comes to supermarkets, Newberry's choice is Lidl for in-store shopping and Tesco for delivery. Currently, he drives a Tesla Model 3 and his preferred beverage is strong tea without sugar. He prefers books over magazines, with Richard Osman's books being among his favorites.

Newberry's idols in life and work are both sets of his grandparents. He finds their stories of overcoming tough beginnings and working hard to change their circumstances truly inspirational. In terms of work, he looks up to James Timpson, CEO of the Timpson Group.
