A recent incident involving a Mercedes SUV has caused outrage and protests in Mumbai and Goa, India. The incident occurred two days ago near the Banastari bridge in Goa, when a 45-year-old businessman named Shripad Sawardekar crashed the Mercedes SUV into multiple vehicles, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to several others.

The deceased have been identified as Suresh Fadte, 58, and Bhavna Fadte, 52, from Divar, and Arup Karmakar, 26, from Bhandora. The injured individuals include Shankar Halarnkar, 67, Vanita Bhandari, 21, and Raj Majgaonkar, 27.

Following the accident, Shripad Sawardekar was taken into custody by the police. A medical examination confirmed that he was intoxicated at the time of the accident. He has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles Act, including charges related to rash driving, drunk driving, and culpable homicide.

The court has dismissed Shripad Sawardekar's bail application, highlighting his intoxicated state and negligent behavior. The ongoing investigation requires more time to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident has sparked public outrage and protests in Mumbai and Goa. Locals from Divar, where the deceased couple was from, have been protesting against the police for not arresting the car owner, Meghana Sawardekar, alleging that she was driving the car at the time of the accident. The police have denied these allegations and assured the locals that they will take action against anyone found guilty.

Protesters and concerned citizens are calling for a fair and transparent investigation that holds all responsible parties accountable. There is a demand for timely justice to ensure that those responsible for the accident are held liable for their actions and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Several injured individuals were treated at the Goa Medical College and Hospital. Shankar Halarnkar underwent surgery for neck injuries, Vanita Bhandari suffered multiple fractures but is in stable condition, and Raj Majgaonkar, who sustained a forehead injury, is expected to be discharged soon.
