MINI's future 5-Door Hatch visualized
【Summary】The next-generation MINI 5-Door Hatch has been confirmed, and renderings show a design similar to the latest MINI Cooper Electric. The 5-Door Hatch is expected to have electric and internal combustion engine versions, matching the options available for the 3-Door model. It is unclear if the 5-Door will have the same power and range as the current electric variants. The interior is expected to have a retro-inspired design with a circular OLED touchscreen.
After the recent confirmation of a next-generation MINI 5-Door Hatch, rendering expert Theophilus Chin has created renders to give us an idea of what this model might look like. Using the latest MINI Cooper Electric as a base, Theo made adjustments to the body, doors, windows, and pillars to match the design cues of the three-door model. This includes features such as round headlamps, triangular taillights, flush door handles, and wheels.
Currently, the 5-Door Hatch does not offer an electric powertrain option, unlike the previous and latest generations of the 3-Door. However, this is expected to change with the next model. Similar to the new 3-Door, the 5-Door Hatch is likely to have separate platforms for fully electric and internal combustion engine versions.
MINI has already announced two electric variants of the latest 3-Door, the Cooper E and SE. These models offer up to 218 PS, 330 Nm, and an electric vehicle (EV) range of up to 402 km. It remains to be seen if the next 5-Door will have the same options or improved ones to compensate for the additional weight of its larger body.
In terms of interior design, the next 5-Door is expected to have the same retro-inspired layout as the 3-Door. This includes a large circular OLED touchscreen on the dashboard that serves as both a control panel for various vehicle functions and a speedometer. While we'll have to wait some time before seeing the all-new 5-Door, what are your thoughts on these renders?
