Moskvich, the former Renault auto plant in Russia, has recently expanded its dealership network in order to reach more customers. The carmaker has selected new partners in 12 Russian cities, including Barnaul, Vologda, Murmansk, Novosibirsk, Penza, Ryazan, Rostov, Surgut, Tambov, Togliatti, Tomsk, and Cherepovets. These locations are currently in the process of preparing to open their doors to customers.
In addition to these new partnerships, Moskvich already has an existing network of 55 sales and service centers in 25 Russian cities. This extensive network allows the company to provide convenient access to their products and services to customers across the country.
The production of Moskvich vehicles began at the Moscow plant in November 2022, following the departure of its former owner, French automaker Renault, from the Russian market. The plant currently produces two models of crossovers under the Moskvich brand. These vehicles are assembled using semi-knocked down components from China's JAC. The Moskvich 3 model is equipped with an internal combustion engine, while the electric Moskvich 3e offers an environmentally-friendly alternative.
Looking ahead, the plant has ambitious production goals for the upcoming year. Moskvich aims to manufacture at least 50,000 cars in 2023, with a significant portion of this production dedicated to electric vehicles. The company plans to produce 10,000 electric vehicles to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options.
