Munro Vehicles has announced the production of their first all-electric 4x4, making it the first light vehicle to be manufactured in Scotland in over four decades. The company's East Kilbride headquarters will hand-build the first two Munro MK_1 customer vehicles, which are founder editions designed with clean-sheet principles and engineered for 50 years of service.
The first vehicle is a black truck with 220kW of power and 600Nm of torque. It offers an estimated range of 190 miles and a 2.5-tonne braked towing weight. The second vehicle is a pick-up built for ultimate performance, featuring a 280kW battery, 3.5-tonne towing capacity, and an estimated range of 190 miles.
The Munro MK_1 is an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive vehicle that combines a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with an advanced electric powertrain, resulting in zero tailpipe emissions. It has a spacious rear bed capable of accommodating a 1050kg Euro pallet payload. The performance model of the vehicle has a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it suitable for various purposes such as hauling farm implements, livestock, construction equipment, and disaster relief supplies.
The Munro MK_1 comes in utility, performance, and range variants, catering to different needs. It has a peak power output of 375kW combined with 700Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate to 60mph in 4.9 seconds.
Equipped with an 82.4kWh battery, the Munro MK_1 can rapidly recharge from 15% to 80% battery capacity in just 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. A fully charged battery provides a range of over 190 miles, enabling up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.
Munro has already received over 250 pre-orders for both the truck and pick-up models. The company is targeting sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense.
Munro CEO and co-founder Russell Peterson expressed his pride in being able to share the engineering and passion behind these remarkable all-terrain electric vehicles.
