Munro Vehicles' electric 4x4 enters production

Munro Vehicles has started production of its first all-electric 4x4, marking the first light vehicle to be manufactured in Scotland in over 40 years. The company's East Kilbride headquarters has hand-built the first two customer vehicles, which are founder editions designed with a clean-sheet approach and engineered to last 50 years.

The first vehicle is a black truck with 220kW of power and 600Nm of torque. It has an estimated range of 190 miles and a braked towing weight of 2.5 tonnes. The second vehicle is a pick-up with a 280kW battery, a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes, and a range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 is an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive vehicle that combines a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with an advanced electric powertrain, resulting in zero tailpipe emissions. It has a spacious rear bed capable of carrying a 1050kg Euro pallet payload. The performance model of the vehicle has a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it suitable for various tasks such as hauling farm equipment, livestock, and disaster relief supplies.

The Munro MK_1 comes in utility, performance, and range variants to cater to different needs. It has a peak power output of 375kW and 700Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds.

Equipped with an 82.4kWh battery, the Munro MK_1 can be rapidly recharged from 15% to 80% battery capacity in 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. A fully charged battery provides a range of over 190 miles, enabling up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.

Munro has already received more than 250 pre-orders for both the truck and pick-up models. The company is targeting industries such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense. Russell Peterson, the CEO and co-founder of Munro, expressed his pride in sharing the engineering and passion behind these all-terrain electric vehicles.
