Munro Vehicles' electric 4x4 enters production

Munro Vehicles has announced that their first all-electric 4x4 has entered production, marking the first light vehicle to be manufactured in Scotland in over four decades. The company's East Kilbride headquarters will be responsible for hand-building the first two Munro MK_1 customer vehicles.

The founder editions of the Munro MK_1 have been designed from scratch and engineered to provide 50 years of service. The first vehicle is a black truck with 220kW of power and 600Nm of torque. It offers an estimated range of 190 miles and a towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes when braked. The second vehicle is a pick-up model with a 280kW battery, a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes, and a range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 is an electric-powered, four-wheel-drive vehicle that combines a full-time 4x4 mechanical drivetrain with an advanced electric powertrain, resulting in zero tailpipe emissions. It features a spacious rear bed capable of accommodating a 1050kg Euro pallet payload. The performance model also boasts a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it suitable for various purposes such as hauling farm implements, livestock, construction equipment, and disaster relief supplies.

With a peak power output of 375kW and 700Nm of torque, the Munro MK_1 can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in just 4.9 seconds. The vehicle comes in utility, performance, and range variants to cater to different needs. It is equipped with an 82.4kWh battery that can be rapidly charged from 15% to 80% capacity in just 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. A fully charged battery provides a range of over 190 miles, enabling up to 16 hours of off-road operation on a single charge.

Munro Vehicles has already received more than 250 pre-orders for both the truck and pick-up models. The company is targeting sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense. Munro CEO and co-founder Russell Peterson expressed his pride in being able to share the engineering and passion behind these remarkable all-terrain electric vehicles.
