Munro's initial batch of cars almost finished

Munro Vehicles, a Scottish manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s, is making significant progress in completing its first vehicles for customers. The factory located in East Kilbride has received over 250 pre-orders for both truck and pick-up models. The company anticipates an increase in demand from target markets such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture, and defense.

To showcase their achievement, Munro Vehicles invited 61 investors, deposit holders, and supporters to witness the production of the first light vehicle in Scotland in over four decades. Conservative MSP Graham Simpson, who is part of the Scottish Parliament's Sustainable Transport and Energy Efficiency groups, expressed his fascination with Munro Vehicles and their potential impact on Scotland's future. He believes that their rugged, all-electric 4x4s could provide a solution for sectors that are challenging to decarbonize, such as agriculture, forestry, and wind turbine management. Simpson also highlighted the job creation potential of Munro Vehicles in the region.

Munro CEO and Co-Founder Russell Peterson expressed his pride in the engineering and passion that goes into building their all terrain electric vehicles. Peterson welcomed MSP Graham Simpson to their headquarters and showcased the Scottish innovation in sustainable transport.

The first two customer vehicles, known as Founder Editions, are currently being hand-built at Munro's East Kilbride headquarters. The first vehicle, a truck, is being constructed to Munro's Range specification and offers an estimated range of 190 miles with a 2.5-tonne braked towing weight. The second vehicle, a pick-up, features a 280kW battery, 700Nm of torque, a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, and a similar estimated range of 190 miles.

The Munro MK_1 is equipped with an 82.4kWh battery that can be rapidly recharged from 15% to 80% capacity in just 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. With a fully charged battery, the vehicle can operate off-road for up to 16 hours. Munro Vehicles is paving the way for sustainable and efficient transportation in Scotland.
