New DAF XB trucks revolutionize city distribution

DAF Trucks has unveiled the latest addition to its New Generation lineup, the DAF XB truck series. This series includes a range of distribution and vocational vehicles with gross vehicle weights (GVW) ranging from 7.5 to 19 tonnes. The focus of the new DAF XB series is to support transport companies in their transition to zero emissions, offering both battery electric and conventionally powered vehicles. These trucks combine low environmental impact with high efficiency, safety, and comfort.

The DAF XB series sets new standards for city and regional distribution, offering tailor-made solutions for various applications. The range includes battery electric models with zero emissions for urban distribution, offering ranges of up to 350 kilometers and fast battery charging times. The series also features powerful and efficient PACCAR engines, with peak torque at low engine speeds for optimal fuel efficiency. Safety and driver comfort are prioritized, with advanced driver assistance systems and high-quality cabs.

In addition to the distribution models, DAF Trucks is also introducing the DAF XBC series for construction applications. These trucks have high ground clearance and excellent approach angles, making them suitable for challenging terrains.

The new DAF XB series builds upon DAF Trucks' leading position in the UK distribution sector. The trucks offer outstanding maneuverability, small turning circles, great driver visibility, and class-leading cab comfort. They are built on a reliable chassis and driveline.

The DAF XB series is scheduled to enter production in the fourth quarter of 2023. It represents a new series of class-leading distribution trucks, offering solutions for urban and regional applications. With its focus on efficiency, safety, and driver comfort, the DAF XB series is ready for the future of sustainable transportation.

DAF Trucks has been at the forefront of zero-emission road transport, being the first European truck manufacturer to offer a range of battery electric trucks. The new DAF XB Electric models are designed for sustainable inner-city and regional distribution operations. They offer impressive ranges of up to 350 kilometers and can be charged rapidly using the Combined Charging System. DAF also provides comprehensive support for customers transitioning to zero-emission transport, including charging solutions, route planning advice, and driver training.

The new DAF XB series is equipped with highly efficient PACCAR engines, including the PX-5 and PX-7 engines. These engines offer a range of power outputs and deliver peak torque at low engine speeds, ensuring optimal fuel efficiency. They are also compatible with HVO, a fuel that can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90%.

The DAF XB series is available with PowerLine automatic gearboxes, providing smooth shifts and excellent low-speed maneuverability. Manual transmissions and fully automatic gearboxes are also available for specific applications.

The new DAF XB trucks offer a range of factory-built bodies and have been designed to be bodybuilder-friendly. They offer a wide range of wheelbases and chassis lengths, allowing for optimal vehicle configuration. The low kerb weights of the trucks result in high payloads.

Safety is a top priority for the DAF XB series, with advanced driver assistance systems and features such as drive-off assist, side and turn assist, rear-view camera, speed limit recognition, tyre pressure monitoring, drowsiness detection, and alcohol interlock installation. The trucks also have outstanding direct vision, thanks to their low cab positioning and large windscreen and side windows.

Driver comfort is another key focus of the DAF XB series. The cabs are designed for easy accessibility, with wide-opening doors and low cab positions. The seats are comfortable and feature soft-woven upholstery. The trucks also come with a customizable digital display and offer excellent maneuverability and small turning circles.

In addition to the on-road models, DAF is introducing the XBC series for construction and utility applications. These trucks have features that make them suitable for tough terrains, including high ground clearance, large approach angles, and sturdy bumpers.
