Porsche is celebrating not only its 75th anniversary as a brand but also the 60th anniversary of the iconic 911 sports car. To commemorate this milestone, the German automaker has unveiled the Porsche 911 S/T, a special edition model. As part of the celebration, Porsche has also released two sneaker designs inspired by both the 911 S/T and the original 911 S.
The 911 S/T takes inspiration from the 1972 911 S and is known for being the lightest car in Porsche's lineup. It features a naturally-aspirated flat-six engine borrowed from the 911 GT3 RS, paired with a manual gearbox that offers shorter ratios and a single-mass flywheel. This combination results in an exhilarating driving experience.
Porsche Design has also paid homage to the classic 911 S 2.5 with the release of the Puma Retro Sneaker. The sneaker is designed to resemble the 911 S 2.5, featuring a light blue exterior, a retro-grille-bad hangtag design, and the iconic number 56 on the heel. This number represents the Porsche 911 that participated in GT racing in 1972. Although it didn't officially bear the S/T name at the time, it was the first to incorporate "S" special racing components. The sneaker's red-orange laces further enhance its resemblance to the famous Gulf Oil livery.
