Prius Versus Corolla: Which Toyota is Best for You?

When it comes to choosing between the 2023 Toyota Prius and the Toyota Corolla, the decision has become more difficult due to the various configurations available for the Corolla. The Corolla comes in a sedan or hatchback body style and offers gasoline, hybrid, and high-performance GR hatchback options. Additionally, there are the Corolla Cross and Corolla Cross Hybrid, which are Corolla-based vehicles with some crossover-inspired design elements.

In contrast, the new Toyota Prius, which debuted its fifth generation in 2022, offers a more straightforward selection. It is available with a powerful gasoline-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain, and that's it. The Prius also boasts an appealing body design, making it the most visually attractive model in the Prius lineup. For the purpose of comparison, we will focus on the Prius hybrid and the Toyota Corolla sedan, with a brief mention of the hybrid Corolla sedan.

It is important to note that the starting price of the new Toyota Prius is approximately $28,700, which is significantly higher than the sub-$23,000 base price of a Corolla sedan. The Corolla Hybrid starts above $24,000 and reaches just under $28,000 for the top-of-the-line XLE trim, making it only a few hundred dollars less expensive than the base Toyota Prius.
