Reviving the Alfa 105-series with the Totem GT Super's powerful supercharged V6
【Summary】Totem has introduced the Totem GT Super, a revival of the Alfa 105-series, with a powerful 740bhp supercharged V6 engine. The car features a bespoke carbonfibre exterior, a new chassis, and advanced suspension. The V6 engine produces 592bhp and can be upgraded to 740bhp with a stage 2 performance package. With its lightweight design, the Totem GT Super is expected to have impressive performance comparable to supercars.
Alfa Romeo's 105-series cars are known for their beautiful design and solid engineering, making them the perfect starting point for classic Italian restomods. One notable example is the GTA-R by Alfaholics, which has garnered a lot of attention. However, the demand for GTA-Rs is so high that the waiting list is currently nine years long. This presents an opportunity for a new player in the market: Totem.
Totem, an Italian firm, has created their own version of a 105 coupe called the Totem GT. This car will be making its debut in the UK at the Salon Privé event later this month. Originally planned as an all-electric modernized classic, the Totem GT has also introduced a petrol-powered V6 model that shares the same design language and chassis.
One of the standout features of the Totem GT is its bespoke wide-body carbon fiber exterior. Very little is carried over from the original Alfa GT Junior, as Totem combines the bulkhead of the original car with a new carbon fiber chassis and steel subframes. This results in a more advanced layout compared to the GT Junior's unibody chassis and solid rear axle design.
The V6-powered variant of the Totem GT is known as the Totem GT Super. It boasts a bespoke dry-sumped 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces an impressive 592 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The engine can rev up to 7500rpm and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox mounted at the rear axle. For those seeking even more power, Totem offers a stage 2 performance package that includes a supercharger and a raised rev limit of 8500rpm. With this upgrade, the engine output increases to 740 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. While performance figures haven't been released yet, considering the GT Super's lightweight of just 1180kg, it's safe to say that it will be on par with supercars.
