Ruf CTR 3 Evo: A Tuner's Mighty Creation

German manufacturer and Porsche tuning specialist Ruf has recently introduced its latest and most powerful car, the CTR 3 Evo. This new model was unveiled at Monterey Car Week and represents a completely redesigned and significantly upgraded version of the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport.

The CTR 3 Evo is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat six engine, capable of producing an impressive 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. These figures surpass those of the Clubsport, with an additional 23bhp and 8lb ft. The maximum power is achieved at 7100rpm, while the maximum torque is delivered at 4000rpm.

While the car pictured features Ruf's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it is worth noting that the Clubsport can also be equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox. Therefore, it is possible that the Evo might also offer this option.

The body of the CTR 3 Evo is constructed using a Kevlar-composite material, similar to what is found in the Koenigsegg Agera RS. This material is known for its lightweight properties, strength, and resistance to heat.

Although the top speed and 0-62mph time of the CTR 3 Evo have not been revealed yet, it is expected to outperform the Clubsport, which can reach a top speed of 236mph and achieve 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.

In addition to engine enhancements, the CTR 3 Evo features various upgrades such as modifications to the MacPherson-strut front suspension, a multi-link rear suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a track-ready dry-sump lubrication system, similar to the Ferrari 488 GTB and Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

Inside the cabin, the CTR 3 Evo boasts one-piece body-hugging sports seats made from carbon fibre and upholstered in Alcantara, with contrasting yellow stitching.

Customers interested in purchasing the CTR 3 Evo can expect to pay a price tag of more than $725,000 (£570,466). This makes it more expensive than the similarly positioned Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 and the equally powerful Ferrari SF90.
