Ruf CTR 3 Evo: Tuner's Ultimate Power
【Summary】German tuner Ruf has introduced the CTR 3 Evo, its most powerful car to date. The mid-engined vehicle features a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat six engine, producing 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. The car is made from a lightweight Kevlar-composite body, similar to the Koenigsegg Agera RS. Pricing will start at over $725,000, making it pricier than the Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 and the Ferrari SF90. Further details on top speed and acceleration have not yet been released.
German manufacturer and Porsche tuning specialist Ruf has introduced their latest and most powerful car, the CTR 3 Evo. This new model was unveiled at Monterey Car Week and is a completely redesigned and upgraded version of the Porsche Cayman-based CTR 3 Clubsport.
The CTR 3 Evo is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat six engine that produces an impressive 789bhp and 730lb ft of torque. This is 23bhp and 8lb ft more than the Clubsport. The maximum power is achieved at 7100rpm, while the maximum torque is deployed at 4000rpm.
The car showcased in the pictures features Ruf's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, since the Clubsport can be equipped with a six-speed manual, it is possible that the Evo may also offer this option.
The body of the CTR 3 Evo is constructed using a Kevlar-composite material, which is known for its lightweight properties, strength, and heat resistance. This is similar to the construction of the Koenigsegg Agera RS.
While the top speed and 0-62mph time have not been disclosed yet, it is expected that the Evo will be faster than the Clubsport. The Clubsport is capable of reaching a top speed of 236mph and achieving 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.
In addition to engine upgrades, the CTR 3 Evo features modifications to the front suspension, which utilizes a MacPherson-strut design, and a multi-link rear suspension. It is also equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes and a track-ready dry-sump lubrication system similar to those found in the Ferrari 488 GTB and Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Inside the CTR 3 Evo, you will find one-piece body-hugging sports seats made from carbon fiber and upholstered in Alcantara with contrasting yellow stitching.
The CTR 3 Evo will be available for order with a price tag exceeding $725,000 (£570,466). This makes it more expensive than the similarly positioned Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 and the equally potent Ferrari SF90.
